Have You Been Feeling Stressed, Overwhelmed, Or Anxious?
Do you overthink things or have a hard time shutting your brain off? Are you having difficulty unwinding or simply enjoying the life you’ve created?
Maybe you’ve been thinking about getting help for managing stress and anxiety, but you’re not sure what type of treatment you need or where to look.
Perhaps you are looking for a specialist who can address a range of anxiety disorders using proven treatment methods, which may include therapy, medication, or both.
Constant Worry Is Not The Only Sign Of Anxiety
For instance, you may be dealing with other symptoms, including the following:
- irritability
- self-doubt
- low self-confidence
- hypervigilance
- anger
- tension
- panic attacks
- insomnia
At times, you may lack focus at work or have trouble being assertive. You may worry about your job security and what others think of you. The prospect of confrontation or self-advocacy probably strikes a chord of fear in you. You may even bring your stress home where it affects everything from your relationships to your physical well-being.
Whether it involves your job, relationships, or life in general, stress can have a major impact on your happiness and well-being. However, as a Board-Certified Psychopharmacologist and Psychiatrist, I believe that by working together, you can make profound changes that will help you feel calmer, more confident, and in control of your life.
Anxiety Is One Of The Most Common Mental Health Issues
The truth is, anxiety is extremely prevalent, affecting approximately 40 million people in the United States alone.[1] In addition to persistent worry and fear, it’s also an alienating and demoralizing experience—one that can make people perceive themselves as somehow “less than.”
That’s particularly true for high-achievers, like lawyers, professionals, and CEOs, who work in high-stress, high-stakes environments. For these individuals, it can be easy to compare themselves to the confidence and success of others. Sometimes, simply relaxing and enjoying life—like everyone else seems to do—can feel impossible.
Reaching Out For Help Can Be Difficult For Numerous Reasons
Many of us were raised with unrealistic expectations of being strong and self-sufficient. We were taught that we should have all the answers—that we shouldn’t make mistakes, show our feelings, or ask for help. If we did, it meant we were lazy or weak. So reaching out for help can seem foreign and dangerous.
Some individuals who are just recently experiencing anxiety may be at a loss for what to do—while others resist therapy because they hope their anxiety will go away on its own. Although meditation and exercise may be helpful for managing some symptoms, these coping mechanisms can’t get to the root of anxiety the way that working with a psychiatrist can.
That’s why I want to help you gain a true understanding of your anxiety and help you find both long-term and short-term relief, whether through therapy, medication management, or a combination of both.
Anxiety Treatment Can Put You Back On Top Of Your Game
Therapy can feel intimidating at first, especially for those living with anxiety. However, this is a space that is just for you. It’s a place where you don’t have to know all the answers—where you can feel respected, validated, and safe to express anything without judgment.
I’m here to learn about you as a person, the challenges you face, and what you need to be happy. My goal is to offer you sustainable relief from anxiety while helping you overcome obstacles that are preventing you from reaching your full potential.
Additionally, as a Board-Certified Psychiatrist and Psychopharmacologist, I can provide you with both medication management and counseling services for your anxiety in one place.
What To Expect In Sessions
Before your first session, I will ask you to fill out a comprehensive assessment detailing your medical history, main symptoms, family history, and any treatments you’ve tried in the past. I will also have you write down your top five to seven challenges and your top five to seven goals. This helps us hit the ground running, thus maximizing our time together and setting you up for success.
During regular sessions, we will discuss your strengths, devise new coping strategies, and develop a treatment that’s tailored to your unique needs. My goal is for you to walk away from sessions with a road map for feeling better and moving closer to your goals.
How I Approach Anxiety Treatment And Medication Management
As a psychiatrist and physician, I know that anxiety doesn’t have the same root cause for everyone. That’s why I look at the whole picture of what could be contributing to symptoms.
This may include exploring various aspects of your upbringing, family medical history, genetics, your career, and any challenges you may be experiencing at home. We can also look at your diet, your exercise habits, any medications you take, your sleep quality, and—perhaps most importantly—your physical, emotional, and medical health. Using that information, we can then begin working on a healing strategy.
You are unique. Therefore, I want to create a treatment plan that is uniquely formulated for you.
To accomplish that, I focus on using several strengths-based, solution-oriented strategies:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based intervention that works by helping you develop new skills for solving problems, identifying disordered thinking, and changing thought patterns to help you feel better and reach your goals.
- Schema Therapy takes healing to a deeper emotional level. At its core, it helps you overcome self-imposed limitations by identifying and changing lifelong patterns and ways of being that may have kept you stuck—unable to truly fulfill your potential.
- Medication Management is a collaborative approach to discovering which medications may work best to alleviate your anxiety symptoms. If pharmacological support is something you’re interested in, we will first discuss the potential benefits of the medication we settle on as well as any side effects you may experience.
Anxiety Treatment Can Make Lasting Change A Reality
As a Board-Certified Psychiatrist and Psychopharmacologist, I have been helping people with anxiety for over twenty years, and I have seen the transformation that is possible.
Whether you are experiencing panic attacks, social anxiety, overwhelming stress, or constant worry, my dual approach to treatment truly has the potential to improve your life. I am here to walk with you on this journey and work together to help you feel calmer, more assertive, and capable of enjoying the life you have created.
Perhaps You Still Have Questions Or Concerns About Anxiety Treatment…
I’m worried about taking medication and the possible side effects
I realize the benefits of medication, but I also understand the importance of therapy, so I am conservative about psychopharmacological interventions. Therapy alone is incredibly helpful, and in many cases, medication is only meant to be a temporary form of support to help facilitate the more important work of getting to the root of anxiety. That said, I’ll help you understand the pros and cons of the medications we decide upon.
How will I know if the medication is working?
Most medications require four to six weeks to take effect, so you may not notice any immediate improvement at first. However, because we will also be discussing strategies for improving your mood, sleep, and other areas of your life during that time, you’ll likely see a reduction in your anxiety unrelated to the medication. I will also provide you with tools to gauge your symptoms so that we can monitor your response to treatment.
How can I make the most of my online sessions?
Online video sessions are just as effective as seeing a psychiatrist in person. However, sometimes, it’s easy to get distracted when you’re meeting from home instead of in an office. To help you make the most of online sessions , have an agenda for each session, take notes, discuss what is working and what is not, and keep an anxiety mood chart to track your symptoms and progress.
